“These new, larger washers and dryers will run 10 hours per day, seven days a week, and meet the demands of approximately 3,500 pounds of laundry per week,” said Ramona Carvalho, commercial services supervisor.
Without the support of these community foundations, many nonprofit organizations would be struggling to survive the economic challenges.
The Arc of Hilo is grateful for the opportunity to provide service to the community and our disabled clients by providing meaningful employment in the areas of laundry, grounds keeping, janitorial and greenhouse operations.
During the last five years, the Arc of Hilo’s laundry business has grown to include the HRA Women’s Imaging Center, HRA Ponohawai, the YWCA Team Court, Hilo Bay Hostel, the Avalon Veterans Home, and many private parties.
